There has been a Christian presence in Kinson for some 1000 years and many believe that aSaxon church would have stood where the current building stands today.

Over the centuries, St Andrew's in Kinson has sought to contribute to the local community with prayer, gospel ministry and active service for those who are in need.

We continue with that same aim - 'to be a Church that is building community and living for God; reaching out to our neighbours, sharing God's transforming love in Kinson, Northbourne and beyond.’

As well as offering weekly gatherings for prayer and worship, St Andrew's is actively involved in operating the Kinson and West Howe Foodbank. We also provide a great space in our community centre, offering a place where local groups can meet and pursue their interests. To that end we seek to offer discounted rates for non-profit organisations seeking to provide support and encouragement to people from all ages and stages of life.

Naturally, all vision and mission, needs to be ‘resourced’. This includes our prayer, time, energy, use of our talents and our financial giving.

Those who call St Andrew's home are committed to giving financially to the work of the local church here:

...as an expression of thanks to God for all He has given us.
...as an act of obedience, submitting to the Bible's teaching.
...because we trust God to provide for all our needs.
...and to support the work of the church, locally and globally.

We are thankful that through the commitment of so many individuals, our shared mission is possible.

Legacies

You may also wish to consider making a donation in your will. Legacies have been important in providing our generation with the facilities we enjoy. Our legacies will help to meet the needs of those who follow in our footsteps. Leaving a legacy to St Andrew’s Kinson is easy to do, can reduce the tax paid by your estate and will make a significant contribution to the work of our Church. Please ask the Church office or your solicitor for more information.

“But just as you excel in everything...see that you also excel in the grace of giving”

- 2 Corinthians 8:7

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 9:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits from 11am, after the service ends. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Gathering

The main gathering begins at 9:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. After a bible reading, one of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. There will be an opportunity to share in the Lord’s Supper where we use bread and wine to remind us of the final meal that Jesus shared with his disciples the night before he died, the unity we share through faith and the future to which we move with hope. Our gathering concludes with an opportunity to share what our children and youth have been learning and a final worship song.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Little Discoverers - Creche (0 months to Reception). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • Explorers (Years 1 to 3)
  • Pathfinders (Years 4 to 6)
  • Illumin8 (Years 7+)

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of our gatherings for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and we will ask that register them as part of our child safety policy.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. We will let you know when it is time to pick your children up so they can return in time to share in the Lord’s Supper with all those in attendance.
